Vapor retarders, otherwise referred to as vapor barriers, provide original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with benefits such as:
Greater Tensile Strength
Winona Building Products’ FSK - R35X and PSK - EHP-VRX are suitable for product fabricator implementation. These vapor retarders are particularly valuable for HVAC and appliance manufacturers, providing extra protection for things such as duct boards, ductwork, outward facings, and exposed surfaces. The resistance properties of FSK (Foil-Scrim-Kraft) and PSK (Polypropylene-Scrim-Kraft) insulation facings make them perfect for any products that come in contact with water, fluctuating temperatures, or are at risk of impact. are UL Classified, Eco-Friendly, Red List Free, and also...more

The two main products offered by Winona Building Products are FSK and PSK. FSK stands for Foil-Scrim-Kraft and PSK stands for Polypropylene-Scrim-Kraft. These are both types of vapor barriers that are commonly used in facing for metal buildings, in particular for insulation. Both of these products use scrim and kraft — scrim being a heavy-duty reinforcement and kraft being Kraft paper that has been coated in our patent-pending Red-List-Free adhesive to promote the bond between all 3 layers and improve fire-retardant properties. The real difference between FSK and PSK lies in the F and the P — foil vs. polypropylene.
Before diving into the difference between these two types of vapor barriers and where they are best suited, we should first talk about the value of vapor barriers in general. Installing vapor barriers is an invaluable way of extending the life of a system, making structures more flame-retardant, preventing water damage, and...more
